I know that Rimmel recently came out with a matte topcoat, but I just don't like Rimmel. End of. So, No7 to the rescue! As part of the Autumn/Winter range (which is out now and will be on shelves until the 5th of October), No7 have released a matte topcoat. Yes! At £7.25 for 10ml, this won't break the bank. In fact, it will be an utter steal at £2.25 after the recent return of the £5 No7 vouchers which we've come to love so much! I highly, highly suggest grabbing a couple of bottles of this before October if you like the matte look.
As for the finish, it's not totally flat and lifeless matte like ChG Matte Magic. It's more of a matte-satin, if you get what I mean... it's just less flat. I actually really like that. Like all matte polishes or topcoats, it will start to lose it's matte-ness after a couple of days but if you don't like that, just slick another coat of this on, much like you would reapply a regular topcoat to keep your normal manicures shiny.
I know there's a whole ton of you who still haven't tried the matte nails trend, and what better time to try it than now? It's basically like doubling your polish collection, it adds a whole new look to everything you own! Oh, and a matte topcoat over glitter polishes looks SO COOL. Just so you know. ;P

Illamasqua's Velocity, sans topcoat...

Velocity, plus a slick of No7 matte topcoat. Beautiful!
Seriously, you have no reason NOT to grab this now the £5 vouchers are going on. I will personally try to get you sectioned if you do not grab this bargain!
This is gorgeous! I actually think I prefer it with the matte topcoat! So, so pretty! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing! I will definitely be getting this with my £5 No 7 voucher - I've never tried matte nails before and all the matte topcoats I've seen have been quite expensive so this is a great find. x
ReplyDeleteI personally love it! Looks so cool ^_^ That's a lovely nail polish by the way x

I've got the Essie one but this looks amazing. I've been a bit weary of using mine over a glitter polish in case it got all sticky, butttt I will try it now, thank you xx
ReplyDeleteI love the satin look of this one! I have the Rimmel one which has an amazing brush and dries SO fast, but it becomes less matte after 4 days or so.
ReplyDeleteI need this one in my life - and its a bargain!

I have no desire to be sectioned so shall get this.

@May: Yknow, I think I do too actually!
ReplyDelete@Lily: Yeah, absolute bargain with the £5 voucher :D £2.25 for matte nails! Amazing!
@Lexi: All Illamasqua polishes are lovely ;P but yeah it's cool!
@Janaka: What's the Essie one like? I've never used it before, just China Glaze - is the Essie one really flat too? And I've never had any trouble using it over glitters, trust me, it's amazing!
@Julia: I think all mattes lose their finish after a while, but another coat restores it!
@Caz: I know, right? :D
@Jen: Hahaha, excellent news!
@Lisa: Get it! Two twenty fiiive!
@Ruth: Wow, I didn't even know Claire's did one, I'll keep an eye out!
@Abby: They should do, I think the collection was released on the 11th or something. Can't remember off the top of my head but it's definitely out now!
@Chloe: You totally should for such a tiny sum! :D
xo
Pretty colour :) Looks like the same finish as with the Rimmel matte topcoat. Not quite matte enough for me I'm afraid haha xx
ReplyDeleteToo bad you'll probably end up with white speckles again. I've read a lot of comments online that this happened to people with the CG, Essie, and other brands matte topcoat. I have it too with my Essie matte topcoat!
ReplyDeleteI need this! I've got a £5 voucher burning a hole in my wallet as well...x
ReplyDeleteI love your blog - it's extremely pretty!
ReplyDeleteI'm not getting into the whole matte polish thing. I picked up one by mistake in Ingot last year and have to put about 3 coats of clear over it to make it look decent! I think your nails look much prettier without the matte topcoat - sorry!

Fabby. I really want to try this trend as I haven't yet. Thanks! :)
